This project provides a series of activities that can be taught as a sequence of lessons to form a complete unit of work. Alternatively, lessons could be taught separately to complement ‘Space’ or ‘Out of This World’ topic work already being covered in class.
In this unit of work children embark on a quest of space exploration! They will experiment with a range of different materials and processes in order to investigate composition, layering, colour, space and the idea of foreground and background. Creative outcomes using apps and artwork produced by the children will provide opportunities for children to explore personal responses to art, make evaluations and ask questions. They will combine their practical artwork with technology to plan and write their own story about an alien, and will also learn about the first moon landing. Children will use this historic event to inspire their writing and film their own news report.
